The reality is, only as often as needed. In part, it depends on what finish you've put on there, and also on how high traffic each area is - including extra stress put on the finish by dog claws, women's high heels, kids on scooters, etc. I've seen some floors need a new sanding and recoat in as little as 3-5 years. I've seen others last 25 years or longer. You can extend the life of your finish by putting glides on the bottom of any furniture that moves (especially things like chairs). Put mats in front of each entry door, to collect dirt from people's feet as they come in. Keep your dog nails clipped. Vacuum or dust mop the floor maybe once per week or so, to get up dirt that could otherwise scratch your floor. |
