Question: How much do timber frame hybrid homes cost to build vs a "regular home"?

Hi my husband and I are looking to start building next year on 3 acres. I really like the look and style of some of the timber frame homes. However we do have a budget and I want to know do these cost more to build vs say a brick house? I have looked on the internet and all I can find are kits and the prices are like 500, 000 and up. Keep in mind this is for like a 3000 square foot home. Am I just looking in the wrong places? Maybe that is the company doing the planning and the building? I didn't think it cost that much to build a log cabin ( have friends that have done it), so why would these hybrid homes cost more? I was just wondering if anyone on here has built a timber frame home, and how the costs compared. We live in Alabama, if that helps any. ( I know costs are lower on some things in the South). Please no rude answers and any help would be great thanks! LOL NOOO I dont want to pay 500, 000! That is what they are saying they are on a few of the websites! That is why I am asking do they really cost that much if you dont use their builders? Thanks! |
