Question: What's the difference between index and cover stock paper?

I want to make wedding programs for my friend but I'm having trouble finding a very heavy paper. I need something really thick and heavy so that it doesn't really curl in if holding it at one end. I thought that cover stock paper was the heaviest but I'm having trouble finding it. Instead, I see a lot of index stock. I thought index was thinner than cover but I want to make sure. Long story short... I ordered a 90 lbs Cover Stock paper online and was sent a 90 lbs index paper. It's extremely flimsy and I'm incredibly disappointed. I didn't think index and cover is the same but if it was my fault, then I'll just use it for something else. Otherwise, I'm going to contact the company and ask about my order. Please help. Thanks! maybe i'm thinking card stock? is that the heavier?

Index paper has a smooth finish and comes either in a 90lb or 110lb weight. Best bet, go to a local print shop that does offset printing (not a Kinko's or anything like that) - they should have samples of different kinds of paper with all the various colors and finishes. You should be able to find an appropriate "Classic Laid " or "Linen " finish that should be heavy enough, or just a plain "Vellum " finish to the paper in a card stock weight. It is usually in a 23 X 35 size, and the print shop should be able to cut it into the desired size that you want.
